Psychotherapy
Since 1996 I worked as an independent psychotherapist at the medical centre of municipal transport company GVB. Two years later I expanded my services as a psychotherapist to the Sports Medical Center Amsterdam, where I had already worked for ten years as a remedial Mensendieck therapist.
Up to my sabbatical at the end of 2016 I have been working as a BIG-registered psychotherapist and psychologist, the last few years in Amsterdam-Zuid at the Ruysdaelcollectief.
BIG is an acronym for “Beroepen In de Gezondheidszorg” (Professions In Healthcare). The rules and regulations of BIG prohibit independent entrepreneurship in order to guarantee the quality of these professions. I have found the BIG, and its correlating protocols relating to healthcare, increasingly restrictive and troublesome, and this does not benefit the quality of what we do. To enable the start of my new venture ‘International Psychotherapy & Coaching’ in 2018, I decided to create full freedom of working. This is only possible with people who pay themselves.
Coaching
In addition to the work I referred to earlier, I have coached intervision teams at the medical center of ING. I also provided talent analysis advice for a psychological consultancy for people struggling with professional and career issues. Through the same consultancy I led coaching groups for highly qualified women with burnout. The last couple of years I coached people struggling with professional and private issues.
Training
After completing my psychology degree, I did a post graduate course in Psychotherapy in Amsterdam. Based on a background of psycho-analysis and group therapy, I have done several subsequent courses, which include:
– Solution-focused therapy
– Sexology
– EMDR
– Relationship and family therapy
– Body focused therapy
I continue to follow courses and attend a wide array of conferences.
